Polished and Shiny! But No Update

Cleaned up version .1 of Corporate Takeover. There isn't any new content, but a lot of small bugs have been fixed and Jenny's Letter is actually meaningful now (you can't go to the gym without reading it first). Also there are a few more "subtle" hints that you should be going to the gym before the meeting ;)

An Update and a Donate Button

First, I'd to apologize for the late update, I had planned to have it ready by Sunday, but then all hell broke loose in my RAGS designer. Somehow I had doubled the amount of elevator doors in the office just by scrolling through the rooms...then options weren't showing up due to "not enough space", I kept encountering errors where my objects would suddenly disappear from a room despite not even touching anything regarding that room...anyway it was a mess. One that has now been cleaned up! I hope.

Second, due to several vehement and convincing arguments sent to me, I've decided to put a donate button on the blog, just for people who would like to give a little monetary thanks for the game I'm creating and who wish to encourage me to continue with it and maybe make more games in the future. I would like everyone to keep in mind, however, that this is COMPLETELY 100% OPTIONAL. I'm not going to be holding content for ransom in any way, everyone will still get the same game. I will, however, probably be doing something nice for people who donate though, maybe make a "Special Thanks" section at the end, or put in an Easter Egg with a list of the donors that you can find somewhere in the game. Currently I'm thinking making a list of clients of Strider's Sundry and listing the donors there.

Anyway, without further ado, the updates: Corporate Takeover.0.1

Story:

1). You can now follow the advice of Jenny and check out the New U Gym

2). You have a meeting with Goldstein Inc. They've sent their best executive so make sure you're prepared!

3). Delve into your Subconscious and fight Sub Sadie for control of your conscious mind (this battle is hard!)

4). 1 way to win

5). 7 ways to lose

Exploration:

1). Explore your Office Building

2). Meet your staff

3). You have a neighborhood now, with a neighbor! (interaction with neighbor coming soon)

Extra Features:

1). New clothes!

2). Colored text (talk to Tiffany for more info)

3). Clothes that come off and are adjustable

4). Unique Encounters and challenges

5). Monica available as a Companion (not programmed into Gym scene yet)

Bug Fixes:

1). The car now works!

2). The elevator works!

3). Doors work!

4). Many grammar and spelling errors were fixed, probably many more were created.

Final note, this update is, of course, still way early release for the game, so expect there to be yet more bugs and little hiccups (or big hiccups) I didn't catch. Please let me know in the comments if you find anything amiss! I would also like comments on how I'm doing with the "Encounter" system I've set up. It's a pretty unique system which relies on reading your stats and using those stats to determine which choices you are given to complete the Encounter. This makes Encounters more difficult because I purposefully don't tell you what those stats are and whether or not they are being affected. You'll have to guess based on the text! It's a little rough right now (VERY rough actually) but this is a basic framework and should be expected more throughout the game's development. Like it? Hate it? Let me know!

I'm also planning on having a second update very soon, but that one will mostly be a fine tuning of this update where I fix bugs, polish scenes, and implement Monica into the Gym scene! Anyway leave me a comment, and if you would like to donate to support me and my games please feel free to do so!

Update Incoming!

I've successfully solved a lot of the story issues I was having and now I can release an update as soon as I fill in the story with text, lots and lots of text. This means that, barring any further complications, real life or in game, I'll have a new update to the game up in a week with these new features:

1). Subconscious system
2). Two Encounters that are both winnable and losable
3). A slew of bug and grammar fixes
4). Your first companion, Monica
5). Access to your office and most of the rest of your company

Getting started on the Corporate Takeover

Alright I'm making this blog as an easy, well easiER way of posting updates on the status of my in development RAGS game Corporate Takeover.

There are several things I'd like to do before releasing the next update to the game. Those being:

1). Finish up work on the Prologue.

  • Fix up all the bugs and spelling errors and grammar mistakes
  • Get all variables up to date with the Prologue's description (Fatigue, Vulnerability, Loyalty, etc)

2). Major bug fixes

  • Prevent clothing from being dropped
  • Make keys available to use while in Purse
  • Fix Car (may need mechanic har har)

3). Minor bug fixes

  • Spelling, grammar, punctuation in general game
  • Removing/Wearing clothes should change the main display

4). Progress storyline

  • Business meeting
  • Add in Monica
  • Add in Gym
  • Add in Fitness Instructor
  • Add in ability to not lose first encounter
Once I've finished those I should have a new update ready and upload it.
